District III Meeting Scholarship Application Form

District III Meeting Scholarship Program:

What is the District III Annual Meeting?

IAAM has seven Districts that hold annual meetings. Programming for these meetings is developed by the members on the District level. Typically, District III holds their meeting in conjunction with adjoining districts. This allows us to network and reduce the costs due to increased participation. The District III meeting affords many individuals an opportunity for small group discussions, networking and personal interaction, as well as formal sessions and social activities. Since district meetings are "closer to home," District III members who may not be able to travel to the Annual Conference have a chance to take advantage of professional development opportunities at a convenient location.

District III Scholarship Program

The membership of District III provides scholarship opportunities to the Annual District III Meeting. Administration of all scholarships is handled by the District III Scholarship Committee. The District III Annual Meeting Scholarship is funded solely by District III. There is a total of $1,000 of total scholarship dollars available each year. The Scholarship Committee will determine the total number and dollar amount of scholarships awarded each year.

Scholarship Eligibility

To be eligible, an applicant must need financial assistance. This means that without the scholarship the applicant will not be able to attend. Applicants must be from a public assembly facility or participate in a recognized educational program at an institute of higher education. Applicants must commit financial resources to cover any balance of costs (i.e. transportation, per diem) not covered by the scholarship award.

Scholarship Award Criteria

The District III Scholarship Committee uses the following criteria in the award process:

  1. Financial Need of Facility and/or Applicant

  2. Current Job Responsibilities and/or Year in Higher Education

  3. Career objectives of applicant

  4. Submission of one-page typed essay on "Why I Should Be Awarded this Scholarship".

  5. Letter of Reference from Facility Director and/or College Professor.

Judging of each criterion will be based on one to five points (max 25 points). The Scholarship Committee will evaluate the total number of applicants and use scoring to award scholarships. The number of scholarships awarded will be at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee with a maximum scholarship award of $1,000.
