the District that District VII has invited District IV to join District
VI and VII in Las Vegas, NV next year for a Combined District Meeting.
The dates are April 12th through 16th. District IV took a vote prior to
Andy Green giving District VII’s presentation, and the vote was
unanimous to go to Vegas next year.
Ron advised the District that District VI has decided to get back into
the mix of Combined District Meetings and that they would officially
invite Districts IV and VII to Denver, CO in 2008, at the San Antonio or
Las Vegas meeting.
Ron also advised the District that District VII was searching for future
District Meeting sites for 2009 and 2010. It has been internally decided
that District VII would meet in Phoenix, AZ in 2009, and that Districts
IV and VI would be invited to join them.
Ron tabled the discussion on 2009 until Andy Green made it to the
meeting to officially present District VII’s offers.

Meetings
Considerable discussion took place related to future Dist. meetings and
whether we should meet with Dist. VII & VI or independently. Members
present expressed the importance of at least once every three years,
meeting in our District.
In 2008 we have been invited to join District VI in Denver. Dist. VII
expressed interest in going to Arizona in 2009, which would be the
rotation to be back in Dist. IV. Members present determined to discuss
2008 at the San Antonio meeting this summer pending a discussion with
Barbara Maples regarding Vancouver hosting a Dist. meeting. There was
interest from our members in visiting Vancouver in 2009, the year prior
to the 2010 Olympics rather than in 2010. Pending the discussion with
Barbara, members requested Dist. leadership to invite Dist. VI & VII to
consider joining Dist. IV in 2009 in Vancouver.
Pending the outcome of leadership discussions, Dist. IV membership will
vote on this issue at the San Antonio Annual Meeting.

IAAM has a formed a History & Recognitions Committee. The secretary
position from each District is represented on the committee. Max Tolbert
is currently representing Dist. IV and will continue until the San
Antonio meeting. D. Kling suggested that we consider either finding a
representative annually for this committee representation or separating
the Sec./Treas. position. To have one person assume three
responsibilities is a considerable work load.
Dexter King commented on the need of the association to archive past and
future Dist. information and the formation of the “Legacy of Leaders”.
Kevin Twohig volunteered to research this subject and come to the 2006
San Antonio meeting with a recommendation.
Announcements
Dexter King announced that Robyn Williams has been nominated for the
IAAM Second Vice President position. Randy Brown has been nominated for
the D.L. of Arenas. Paul Beard has been nominated for the D.L. of
Performing Arts.
The meeting was adjourned. |
