It was obvious that this was not just any International Crowd Management Conference with just any slate of speakers discussing just any topic. A press conference scheduled by IAAM during the ICMC and attended by the Associated Press and ESPN, as well as local media affiliates, saw to that.

Moderated by IAAM Executive Director Dexter King, the press conference helped raise national awareness of the Association’s leadership regarding public venue safety and security. King was joined at the head table by Frank Poe, Larry Perkins, Major General John Doesburg, local facility director John Kolek, representatives from the Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games and security directors from Major League Baseball and the NFL.

In addition to the Associated Press and ESPN, the local ABC and CBS television affiliates attended and reported on the press conference. KOGO/KSDO radio was present, as were reporters from the Los Angeles Times, Orange County Register, San Diego Business Journal, San Diego Union-Tribune and San Jose Mercury News.

Among those interviewed were Perkins, Kolek, Doesburg and King. Salt Lake City representatives David Tubbs and Doug Arnot were also interviewed following the conference. The total number of impressions as a result of the press conference was an estimated 1,490,000.
