What facilities have you worked in?
Iowa State Center, Sioux City Auditorium,
Peoria Civic Center, North Shore
Center for the Performing Arts, Topeka
Performing Arts Center, UIC Pavilion.t

What is your favorite food or restaurant?
A neighborhood restaurant in
Chicago called The Room. My favorite menu item is their Mac and 3 Cheeses with Pulled Chicken. It’s to die for, and the size plus cholesterol could do it. Not glamorous but so wonderful!

What book are you currently reading (or what is your favorite book)?
I just finished “A Mighty Heart” by Mariane Pearl. It’s the story about Danny Pearl, the kidnapped reporter who was killed in Pakistan. Very scary and well written. She writes of going through the weeks of not knowing where he was and what was going on. It shows that terrorists know more about us and how we do things than we know about them. We need to understand this because it applies to what we're doing now.

What CD or cassette is in your car right now?
Medley of songs about Chicago. It’s a promotional CD with 10-12 tracks of the most representative songs.

What is the weirdest event you ever had in a facility you've worked in?
I think it is a tie between the National Trappers Association meeting in a downtown environment and indoor midget car races between the US and Russia and the Russian drivers did not arrive in time to race.

Strangest merchandise?
Skunk Urine (the National Trappers Association).

What is a motto, inspiration or quote you try to live by?
80/20 Rule and figuring out the 20% that creates the 80% of my results.

Why did you choose to pursue the CFE?
I sought recognition by my peers and the industry that I have the knowledge and skills to be a manager in the public assembly facility management industry.

What has been a benefit or is a benefit of having a CFE?
Having the professional recognition by my employer and others. I believe that it is important to those of us that are long term pros in the business to always seek to raise the bar and promote the profession. Being a CFE is one way of doing that.

Would you recommend attaining CFE to other international colleagues?
Why? I heartily recommend the CFE program. We will be recognizing it as a significant qualification in making hiring decisions for Compass.

What couldn't you live without?
My wife, April.

What's your most prized possession?
38 foot Catalina sailboat called INDULGENCE.

What's your favorite place on earth?
My favorite place is on INDULGENCE sailing. Getting two or three miles off shore, and the trials and stress of everyday life go away and one can find a little indulgence in the finer things.

What's your most favorite moment in sports history?
The day I realized I could not play well and quit trying! I remember my father trying to get me to play golf as a teen and the ball wouldn't go where I wanted to and I never tried again. However, I was good with supporting positions, water boy, ball boy, Zamboni driver, etc.

What's the one thing most people would be surprised to learn about you?
I’m really shy and introverted.
