“What’s the buzz? Tell me what’s a-happening. What’s
the buzz? Tell me what’s a-happening.”
For some reason those lyrics from the Tony Award-winning musical Jesus Christ
Superstar keep popping into my head. Maybe it’s because performing arts centers
are on my mind these days. Or maybe it’s because everyone seems genuinely
excited about this year’s IAAM Annual Conference and Trade Show in San Antonio,
Texas, and keeps asking me how the Silent Auction and Foundation Friday’s annual
golf tournament are coming along.
Well, the buzz on the street is that this year’s Silent Auction is shaping up to
be one of the best auctions ever, thanks to Silent Auction chair Barry Rappaport.
Of course, a huge “thank you” goes to Diana Franzetti and the rest of the IAAM
staff who helped with this event.
And what would a truly great event like this be without the many members and
sponsors who generously give to your Foundation by donating goods and services
to the auction. Trips, concert tickets, jewelry, sports memorabilia,
one-of-a-kind art objects, gift baskets, and apparel are just a few of the many
items in this year’s offerings, according to Rappaport. There’s even an
autographed poster from the Broadway hit and movie The King and I. (There I go
again with the musicals.)
And what would IAAM’s Annual Conference and Trade Show be without Foundation
Friday’s annual golf tournament. This year’s tournament is being held at The
Westin La Cantera Resort, San Antonio.
A special thanks to 2006 Foundation Friday Committee Chair and IAAM Foundation
Trustee Dean Dennis and his team — Diana Franzetti, Chris Lamberth, and Robert
Rayburn — and our sponsors:
