And on and on and on we go … You will by now,
one hopes, have booked your room at the Amsterdam Marriott for the IAAM
Europe Annual Meeting set for April 18th to 20th of this year. We are due to
have a very interesting and relaxed time (well, it is Amsterdam...), so make
sure you are there. You can book the hotel via the website on
www.iaam.org, and then click on Meetings.
We will begin with drinks and nibbles on Wednesday evening, leaving you free
for the rest of the night, then from the Thursday, as you will remember (he
said, tongue in cheek), we will be having the actual sessions at Amsterdam
Arena, home of the famous and successful Ajax football team and we will also
get a chance to tour this magnificent stadium.
Sessions
will include, but not be limited to, “How to run an environmentally
friendly, yet efficient building” chaired by Martin Smith from the NEC in
Birmingham, England, “EEC legislature and its potential effects,” and
“Increasing the business in your building.”
This one will probably be the main session because there are so many really
exciting topics which are going to be included, such as future trends, new
products, customer relationships, marketing issues and trends, etc. Henk
Markerink, MD of the Amsterdam Arena — our hosts this year — will be
chairing this session. Other sessions, including input from our allied
members, are scheduled and the IAAM website will be updated regularly. There
will also be the mandatory canal trip, dinner Thursday night, lunch Thursday
and Friday — and the amazing cost of all this is only 50euros for members
and 80euros for non-members. The hotel is, of course, your cost. To register
and book your hotel, go to www.iaam.org
and then click on Meetings. We really look forward to seeing as many as
possible of you there.
Now you can learn more …
We are delighted to announce that the EAVM (European Academy of Venue
Management) will happen this year, between September 2nd and September 7th,
and will be held near to Innsbruck, Austria, which has its own airport, at
the spectacular Speckbacher Hof, which is around 4/5kms from the town and is
at 2000m in amongst the mountains. The hotel/conference centre has double
and single rooms (at no extra cost) and, alongside excellent conference
facilities, has fine dining, a fitness centre, sauna, solarium, etc. but you
will be there to work hard as well …
As
before, the Curriculum will be wide ranging including, but not limited to,
the following subjects: Contracts and European Law, Event Production, Human
Resources, Booking and Scheduling, Financial Management, Marketing,
Advertising and PR, Professional Ethics, Crowd Management, Media Relations,
Box Office and Database, Novelties and Merchandising, Customer Services,
Emergency Preparedness, etc.
The lecturers, all professionals, will all be from, or be familiar with, the
European venue and entertainment Industry. The course will be aimed
specifically at Europe. All of the lecturers want to be able to give back to
the industry what they have gained from it. We want IAAM Europe to become
the leader in the education of the European venue industry. EAVM will help
us to achieve that.
As to the cost of the Academy, this will be 1500euros for IAAM members and
1800euros for non-members. This will include all instruction, text and study
materials, accommodation and meals.
To register, visit the IAAM website on
www.iaam.org and then click on meetings. All will be revealed.
As well as Amsterdam, we want to see as many of you as possible in
Innsbruck. We are looking forward to both events.
