Catching
Up with Silent Auction Chair Jane Kleinberger
What are some highlights for
the auction this year? “Highlights? The items! Fabulous items
with new ones added each day. We’re close to June 23, but there is still
plenty of time left to make a donation. I am still hoping to see more
members step up and be counted!
Also, the online auction, which is great for members
who plan to be at the conference and want to get a jump on bidding as
well as for those who cannot attend and still want to get in the game.
The online auction also provides us access to the general public,
allowing us to share our mission and message to a broader audience.
Another highlight is the volunteers. I have also been
blessed with a phenomenal committee that works hard each day to secure
items that will help us raise the most possible funds. At the Trade Show
booth, student volunteers will
jump
in,
bringing creativity, enthusiasm and
spirit to this endeavor. I was so impressed
last year with our students.
The student volunteers are the future lifeblood of our industry, and
this group understood the word service. Last year, over the few days we
were together, our volunteers formed a community and professional
relationships that
can truly last a
lifetime.”
What interested you in
becoming a Foundation trustee? “The work we all do with live
enter tainment
and facilities management is important. Our buildings are central pieces
of our local communities, serving both economic and social development.
The work of the Foundation provides the additional support to fund
programs that are needed to ensure a growing, healthy and vibrant
industry. I am proud to be a member of this industry, which has given me
so much and, quite simply, serving as a Foundation trustee is a great
way by which I can personally give back.”

Why do you feel the
IAAM Foundation is important? “The Foundation has directly
funded initiatives that are used widely by industry members — programs
that otherwise would have been difficult or impossible to bootstrap, but
that are now self-sufficient and growing. Today’s venues need help
tackling the many challenges we all have, especially with safety and
security. The need is both important and urgent and affects each one of
us. I am most encouraged to see the number of people in our industry who
truly care about the success of the Foundation and want to be
supportive.” fm
