ABOUT STEPHEN P. ASHKIN:
Stephen Ashkin has been a leader in the Green Cleaning Movement since long before it was even recognized as a Movement. His efforts in pioneering many of the concepts that are now taken for granted has led to his being thought of as the “Father of Green Cleaning.”
Steve is president of The Ashkin Group, a consulting firm working to “green” the cleaning industry --- and he also serves as executive director of the Green Cleaning Network, a nonprofit educational organization focused on accelerating Green Cleaning.
He is a prolific writer, speaker, and tireless advocate on Green Cleaning issues. His long list of activities and accomplishments include:

• Writing standards and procurement language for several US federal agencies, as well as numerous states, cities and major private sector organizations. In addition he has worked on standard development with Green Seal and Environmental Choice, as well as those developed by the US Green Building Council where he drafted the cleaning credits contained in their LEED for Existing Buildings Rating System.

• He has published over 275 magazine articles and is author of the book Green Cleaning for Dummies. He has also been extensively quoted in the likes of the New York Times, Better Homes & Gardens Magazines, US News & World Reports and National Public Radio.
 
• Finally, a short list of his awards and recognition include an Excellence Award Winner from the US EPA for his work to protect children from environmental threats and the Green Building Advocate of the Year from the Leonardo Academy for his work bringing Green Cleaning to the US Green Building Council’s LEED for Existing Buildings Rating System.
